Privacy Policy
stax ยท Last updated August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how stax ("we", "our", or "the app")
collects, uses, and protects information when you use the stax mobile
application and related services.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, display
name, and an internal account identifier, collected when you sign in,
so you can access the same library across devices.
- Saved content. Cards, decks, Been ratings, source
links, captions, screenshots, and extracted details you choose to save
inside stax.
- Technical and operational data. Basic request
metadata (device type, request timestamps, error logs) used to
authenticate you, protect the service, diagnose errors, and limit
abuse. No advertising identifiers are collected.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the stax service, including saving, organizing,
and displaying your personal library.
- To authenticate your identity and protect your account.
- To identify and extract useful details from content you choose to save,
using AI processing services (see "Third-party providers" below).
- To diagnose and fix errors and to protect against abuse.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Third-party providers
-
Clerk (authentication). Clerk handles sign-in,
one-time verification codes, session tokens, and the authentication
identity linked to your stax profile. Clerk processes your email
address under its own
Privacy Policy.
-
OpenAI and Google Gemini (AI processing). Source text,
images, or video you submit for saving may be processed by OpenAI or
Google Gemini to identify and organize what you asked stax to save.
These providers handle submitted content under their respective
privacy policies:
OpenAI
and
Google.
-
Google Places (location). Place names or nearby
context may be sent to the Google Places API to match a venue and
return canonical location details. Google handles this data under its
Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Your profile and saved library remain available while your account
exists. Operational logs and short-lived provider-side copies follow
each provider's own retention rules. When you delete your account,
stax permanently removes your app profile and saved library and
requests removal of the connected authentication identity from Clerk.
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
